Statement

Emotional crying is something that only humans do, no other creature has yet to be discovered to cry from emotion or pain. Not only is crying a very human specific phenomenon it is also different for every individual person. Everybody cries, but for each person it is different, some people cry multiple times a week whilst others cry only once a year.

The fact that tears are so unique to our species, along with many other facts, really sparked me to do a project on the subject. It is said that crying is a means of communication between humans, without tears it can be hard to read emotions. In experiments where subjects were shown two pictures, one with tears and one with the tears edited out, the subjects didn't read the ones without tears a sad.

It is test like this that really show how much of an impact tears heave on our lives and connections, therefore I really wanted to encompass the tear into art. I want to make it valuable, by making it (or it's concept) into an art piece, it will show how valuable this phenomenon is. And along with data and experiences from crying humans this can be translated into my work.
